Email sent to PSNet group by George Fosque on 12/18/2006:

We have a quick proposed late-addition to the PSnet recommendations. Think
about this.

Develop a PSnet Web presence to be used for both CIS information as well
as emergency operations.
Set up a web server hosted on PSnet that allows sensitive info to be kept
and made available to EOC, Dispatch, and Command post personnel, as well
as other info. No such thing exists today except WebEOC which it would
complement (WebEOC is really only a big scrolling message board).

We have a way to do this, a capable person who volunteers to be the
webmaster (Dan Wagner of CPD), and a new network to put it on (PSnet). The
site would be fresh, relevant, kept up-to-date by an operations-oriented
person, and serve a variety of communications purposes and users. Could
have admin/resouce stuff linked or local (e.g., data repository access,
CIS documents, etc.); could have technical info, would be a base of EOC
protocols, sat phone/landline phone lists, Metrofire plans, BAPERN info,
CMED procedures, etc. Click on it when big bad things are happening to get
help!

Would get Sandy/Chuck's help in setup and security approach; Dan uses a
content manager package that works well; etc. Could morph over time, but
let's start with something that would serve both CIS as well as line
dispatchers, dispatch supervisors, EOC staffers, and CP personnel.

Details to be worked out but Cynthia, myself and Dan think this may be
useful to think about. Dan would need to get permission to do this, but he
feels once up that it would require relatively little time to keep up. We
like the idea of "one of us" doing the site content rather than a vendor.

Very short money as well (could even just start with no hardware by
hosting it, then move to a server at one of the PSnet nodes like
Cambridge).

Any thoughts?
